Sleeping Myths Busted

Truth For A Good Night’s Rest

The Back Store, Is Napping Beneficial

Generations have believed if you drink a glass of warm milk at bedtime you will sleep like a baby and if you were not able to get enough sleep during the week you can always make up for it on the weekend.

We don’t want to disrespect Great Grandmother Pearl but we do want to help you get the best sleep possible. So let’s take a look at a few myths that may be causing you to lose sleep.

Our first myth to debunk is the thought that naps are for the lazy or are a waste of time. While napping after 3 in the afternoon or for longer than a short power nap can interfere with your nighttime rest, naps are actually very healthy. A 10-30 minute nap can rejuvenate the mind and energize your creativity. Your body can also learn to fall asleep faster in the evenings by taking naps in the early afternoon.

Next up- everybody should get 8 hours of sleep every night for optimal health. Studies now show that some folks don’t require a full 8 hours while others need a tad more. What does your body tell you about your sleep requirement? Listen when your body speaks.

Those of you who work a 60 hour week Monday through Friday must look forward to catching up on lost sleep when your weekend arrives. Sadly, this is a myth to be debunked. Once you’ve missed sleep, that sleep is gone and cannot be retrieved. In fact, your body prefers a schedule and operates at capacity if you get up and go to sleep at the same time 7 days a week. But, don’t forget your naps!

At The Back Store, we care about your quality of sleep which leads to your quality of living. We choose to see Sleeping Myths Busted so you won’t be fooled by misconceptions that affect daily life.
